obo Article - Sound & Colour

As many of us settle into an increased pattern of homeworking, we're taking a look at what items around your home help you to stay focused, make you more comfortable or aid your self-care routines.

We asked our own John Walters and his vote goes to this, the Pablo UMA Mini, the newest addition to the UMA family.

This lovely little ‘lantern’ fuses state of the art technology with not only sound, but colour too invoking the primal symbol of the lantern, the warmth of a campfire and 360° high fidelity surround sound for the perfect chill-out ambience.

The colours you encounter throughout your day can make you feel happy or sad, invigorate you or drain your vitality, and even affect your work habits. Yellow represents joy or optimism and can energize you and help you think more clearly. Bright orange reduces depression and sadness. The darker tones of both colours can make you feel serious and introspective.

And as for music, well it turns out, whether it’s rock ‘n’ roll, jazz, hip-hop or classical, your grey matter prefers the same music you do. If you play someone’s favourite music, different parts of the brain light up. This means memories associated with music are emotional memories, which never fade out.

And when you’re tired of working? Carry-out to the garden in the evening to enjoy a glass of wine by lantern light.

And when we can all get together again, UMA Mini boasts a party mode feature that allows for pairing up to 24 units simultaneously via Bluetooth. Cool!
